‘TV magic’ teens’ jail nightmare

Ugly custody war

Two kid magicians arrested by cops in Louisiana for refusing to return to their mother as part of a bitter custody battle were stripsearched before being placed alone in separate jail cells for two nights, their friend and neighbor told The Post.

Brother-and-sister duo Kadan, 15, and Brooklyn Rockett, 13 — who wowed Simon Cowell in the “America’s Got Talent” semifinals back in 2016 — were unable to pull a Houdini and escape what they told friends was a scary stay in a roachinfested juvenile-detention center near where their relatives live in Lillie, La.

They were taken away in handcuffs in separate police cars from their grandfather’s home on Nov. 18, after crying and saying they did not feel safe returning to their mother, Kami Lyn Rockett, who lives in Utah. Their mother was reportedly waiting at the sheriff’s department to retrieve them, but they went to jail instead. It’s unclear what, if anything, they were charged with,

“It just broke my heart,” said Emily Truman, 45, who was one of several neighbors who witnessed the teens’ arrest. “The cop was so rough with Kadan — and Brooklyn was so upset she was sobbing and just losing it. I was so ashamed. I’ve lived here in Union Parish all my life and I’ve seen a lot of things but I’ve never seen anything like what happened to these kids.”

Truman said the teens, who are still in Louisiana for the time being, came by to see her after their ordeal. They had returned to Louisiana briefly after the death of their grandmother but normally live with their father Bart, also a magician, in LA.

“They told me they were terrified,” Truman said. “They were completely alone in two different cells, stripped, searched and made to take a shower. Brooklyn said she cried the whole time.”

It was the second time the Rockett teens landed behind bars on orders from a Missouri judge overseeing the custody battle.

According to a police report filed in Forsyth, Mo., last year that was obtained by The Blaze, the kids accused Taney County Judge Eric Eighmy of illegally locking them up in two courthouse holding cells for part of the day after a custody hearing.
