Bradberry, Engram named to Pro Bowl

The Giants are sending their best player and their most enigmatic to the Pro Bowl.

Cornerback James Bradberry and tight end Evan Engram both are first-time selections, leaving linebacker Blake Martinez, safety Logan Ryan, defensive tackle Leonard Williams and kicker Graham Gano as snubs.

The Pro Bowl will not be played due to COVID-19, but 88 players still were recognized. The Giants were not represented last season.

Bradberry leads the Giants with three interceptions and is tied for second in the NFL with 17 passes defended. He was the leading fan vote-getter among NFC cornerbacks and earned a $250,000 bonus for his selection.

Engram has 54 catches for 572 receiving yards and two total touchdowns, though those numbers could be better if not for six drops. He is on pace to play a full season for the first time in an injury-plagued fouryear career and made it over Packers tight end Robert Tonyan (10 touchdowns).

Martinez is fourth in the NFL with 128 tackles, Williams has 8.5 sacks, Ryan has three forced fumbles, and Gano is 28-for-29 on field goals. Ryan, Williams and Gano were second in the NFC in the fan vote at their respective positions.

“It just adds that extra chip on my shoulder to keep going at it each and every day to get better to be able to get to that position for next year,” Martinez said. “As long as I know I’m playing the way I want to play, at a high level, that’s really all that matters for me.”

The Giants told their two Pro Bowlers the NFL was scheduling Zoom calls so current players could meet former players who once played the same positions on their teams. Then Jason Sehorn gave Bradberry the good news and Howard Cross relayed it to Engram.
