Another Thrive Money Pit: More Failure, Waste Ahead
• It is absolutely astonishing how Mayor de Blasio continues to pour money into the biggest New York City boondoggle in recent decades, ThriveNYC, which his unelected and equally incompetent wife, Chirlane McCray, is in charge of (“Thrive has big plan$, few details for kids,” Dec. 22).
He said that the funding for her newest “initiative” is a “top budget priority.”
Here’s hoping that when this city is rid of him and his progressive agenda that our next mayor will make it his or her top priority to immediately shutter ThriveNYC once and for all.

• Bonnie and Clyde are at it again. What a disgrace. When will the citizens of New York City put a stop to this abuse?
People with mental illness have faced discrimination and lack of treatment options for decades.
The mayor and his wife are putting their hands back into the pot to siphon more of these funds which are so desperately needed. They never accounted for all the money supposedly earmarked to “Thrive” thus far and yet have free access to it again. Absolutely sickening.

• Once again, Thrive proposes a program that has no track record of working and no price tag.
We know that there will be mental-health sequelae of the virus and the isolation that has been required to prevent transmission.
There is no reason to suspect that our young people suffer any less. However, much can be mitigated by bringing kids back to school and giving them things to do like sports. When can that happen? I’d suggest as soon as possible.
I’ve spent almost 50 years in mental health, and I assume there will be needs. There will also be major educational needs as this year has been a bust. Where we put valuable resources should be driven by demonstrated need and remedy. We do not need any more of McCray’s nonprograms.

• Mayor de Bozo tells city agencies to get ready to cut their budgets, yet he and his wife announce the hiring of 150 counselors for her failed Thrive initiative. Great job, mayor.
