Trevor bids Clemson farewell

- By JUSTIN TASCH

Goodbye Clemson, hello Jacksonville.

Trevor Lawrence didn’t utter the words “NFL” or “draft,” but he didn’t need to in a farewell-to-Clemson video he posted Wednesday morning on Twitter. He made it clear his time with the Tigers is up after three years and he’s entering the 2021 NFL Draft, where he’ll certainly be taken No. 1 by the Jaguars.

“To all my teammates over the past three years, it’s been the most fun ride I’ve been on,” the 21-year-old said in the video. “I’ll look back at these three years and have the best memories, winning a national championship, winning a lot of games. And just not even that, but more so all the little moments, being in the locker room, being at practice, spending every day together and just having those memories of us laughing and cutting up and just enjoying life together. Those are things I’ll remember forever.”

The 6-foot-6, 220-pound Lawrence went 34-2 as Clemson’s starter, leading the Tigers to the 2018 national title as a freshman. He brought them back to the title game last season, when they lost to LSU, before they fell in this season’s CFP semifinals to Ohio State.

“When I look at my life as a whole so far, this journey of 21 years, the most formative years have been my time here at Clemson,” Lawrence said in the video. “It’s taught me how to be a better man, no doubt, and that’s the biggest takeaway really.

I really feel like I’m a man now and I’m ready to take on those challenges. I’m super excited for life ahead. The best is always yet to come. But I’m grateful for Clemson and I’m gonna miss it.”
