Iona stomps Manhattan in return from 51-day layoff

Berrick JeanLouis had 16 points to lead five Iona players in double figures as the Gaels beat Manhattan 85-67 on Friday following a 51-day break.

Iona (6-3, 4-1 MAAC) hadn’t played since Dec. 23 because of positive COVID-19 tests and has paused activities three different times during this season.

Nelly Junior Joseph added 15 points, Ryan Myers and Asante Gist each scored 13, and Isaiah Ross had 11 for Iona. Junior Joseph also had seven rebounds and four blocks.

Elijah Buchanan had 15 points and three blocks for the Jaspers (5-9, 4-9), who have now lost five games in a row. Samba Diallo added 14 points and eight rebounds. Ant Nelson had 12 points.

St. Francis (Pa.) 80, St. Francis 66

In Loretto, Pa., Ramiir DixonConov­er tied a career high with 21 points and Ronell Giles Jr. added 20 as St. Francis (Pa.) defeated St. Francis Brooklyn.

Dixon-Conover converted all 11 of his free throws. He added six rebounds. Giles also had six rebounds.

Mark Flagg had 11 points for the Red Flash (6-13, 5-10 NEC), who broke their four-game losing streak. Josh Cohen added seven rebounds.

Chauncey Hawkins had 12 points for the Terriers (5-8, 5-7).

Mount St. Mary’s 64, LIU 46

In Emmitsburg, Md., Damian Chong Qui finished with 16 points and nine assists as Mount St. Mary’s handed LIU its secondstra­ight Northeast Conference loss.

Jermaine Jackson Jr. led LIU with 13 points and three assists, while senior Ty Flowers had 11 points and seven rebounds. LIU struggled from 3-point range, shooting 11 percent from behind the arc.
