No Big deal for new ‘SATC’
Some “Sex and the City” enthusiasts better get ready for a Big disappointment.
Page Six has learned that Chris Noth will not reprise his role as the iconic Mr. Big in the “Sex and the City” reboot.
We’re also told that David Eigenberg, who plays Miranda Hobbes’ love interest, Steve Brady, won’t be returning either, though a rep told Page Six the actor is in negotiations to appear.
Big, of course, is the paramour of Sarah Jessica Parker’s character Carrie Bradshaw over the course of the hit show’s six seasons, and the pair get married — after one dashed wedding attempt — in the first movie.
In 2010’s sequel, the pair struggles with married life, but by the end they decide to try and make their union work.
But it looks like he’ll be out of Carrie’s life once more when the HBO Max revival series picks up her story.
In December, Page Six exclusively reported that another installment of the hit franchise was in the works as a limited series.
In January, Parker confirmed there would be a 10-episode revival, called “And Just Like That.” It starts shooting this spring.
Meanwhile, Eigenberg is also going to be absent. Steve, rasing a son with lawyer Miranda, barely appears in the second film.
As Page Six previously reported, Kim Cattrall, who portrays libidinous p.r. maven Samantha Jones, is also not returning.
Over the years, Cattrall has made it clear she would not revive her character, and has accused Parker on Instagram of being a “hypocrite” and “cruel.”
Parker has tried to defuse any tension, telling fans in 2018 of Cattrall, “Not sure if I can imagine doing another movie without her.”
A top HBO Max exec suggested that Samantha’s absence could be explained away: “Friendships fade, and new friendships start. So I think it is all very indicative of the real stages, the actual stages of life.”
HBO Max did not respond for comment.
