Armie accused of rape
A woman named Effie has accused Armie Hammer of “violently” raping her, slamming her face against a wall, adding, “I thought he was going to kill me.” Effie, who didn’t reveal her last name, appeared at a press conference alongside attorney Gloria Allred and alleged, while sobbing, that the “Call Me by Your Name” star raped her on April 24, 2017, when she was 20. She claimed he abused her “mentally, emotionally and sexually” and said, “He became increasingly more violent . . . I thought he was going to kill me.” The alleged rape, in which she claims Hammer “repeatedly slammed [her] face against the wall,” left Effie bruised. Now 24, she said she and Hammer first met on Facebook in 2016 and had an on-again, off-again connection for four years. The alleged abuse caused her to consider suicide. “I lost interest in living,” she said. “I just wanted the pain to stop.” When asked if Effie was behind the social media account “House of Effie,” which first leaked DMs alleged to be from Hammer and described fantasies of rape and cannibalism, Allred had “no comment.” Hammer’s attorney denied Effie’s claims saying, “[Effie’s] own correspondence with Mr. Hammer undermines and refutes her outrageous allegations. As recently as July 18, 2020, [Effie] sent graphic texts to Mr. Hammer telling him what she wanted him to do to her. Mr. Hammer responded making it clear that he did not want to maintain that type of relationship with her. It was never Mr. Hammer’s intention to embarrass or expose [Effie’s] fetishes or kinky sexual desires, but she has now escalated this matter to another level by hiring a civil lawyer to host a public press conference . . . From Day 1, Mr. Hammer has maintained that all of his interactions with [Effie] — and every other sexual partner of his for that matter — have been completely consensual, discussed and agreed upon in advance, and mutually participatory.”
