NHL: Penguins defeat Devils

The Devils modest winning streak is over. Jake Guentzel and Bryan Rust each had a goal and an assist, helping the Penguins top the Devils, 3-1, at Prudential Center in Newark. Kyle Palmieri scored for New Jersey and Scott Wedgewood made 26 saves in his second consecutiv­e start for the Devils, who had won their previous two games. The Devils failed to score on all four of their power plays, including two in the third period.

NFL: Dolphins release Wilson

The Dolphins reportedly released offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson three days after acquiring the troubled former first-round pick in a trade with the Titans.

The 22-year-old Brooklyn native showed up hours late for his Dolphins physical and orientatio­n, and skipped two optional workouts he had committed to attending, according to the Miami Herald.

The Chargers signed former Jets offensive lineman Oday Aboushi to a one-year deal. Aboushi spent the past two seasons with Detroit, where he made 10 starts.
