Jints making ‘D’ pitch to ex-Titans CB

- By BRIAN COSTELLO

The Giants landed one free-agent prize over the weekend and now their attention is on another.

Free-agent cornerback Adoree’ Jackson began his visit with the Giants on Sunday night. The visit will continue into Monday and then he is expected to go to Philadelphia to meet with the Eagles, according to ESPN.

The Giants may try to prevent that trip down I-95 from happening. Jackson would address a huge need for Joe Judge’s team. The Giants desperately need a cornerback to start opposite of James Bradberry. Jackson is just 25 and it is surprising he is on the market after the Titans cut him.

Giants safety Jabrill Peppers has begun publicly recruiting Jackson, tweeting on Saturday, “@AdoreeKnows You know what to do next brudda!”

Tennessee drafted Jackson in the first round in 2017 out of USC. He started 41 games in the past four years for the Titans. He missed the first 13 games last year with a knee injury. He made it back for the end of the season and Tennessee’s playoff loss. He has two career interceptions,

33 pass deflections, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He also can return kicks.

The Giants made plenty of noise in free agency already over the weekend, landing prized wide receiver Kenny Golladay with a fouryear, $72 million contract. They also locked up defensive lineman Leonard Williams last week with a $63 million deal.

Tennessee picked up Jackson’s fifth-year option for 2021, but then released him Tuesday before his salary became guaranteed for this year. The move saved $10 million in cap space. The Titans signed former Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins.

Besides Peppers, safety Logan Ryan also figures to be recruiting Jackson. The two played together in Tennessee. Jackson has said he leaned on Ryan as a young player.

The Giants struggled to find a suitable starter opposite Bradberry last year. They had planned on DeAndre Baker playing there before he was arrested and then cut. Another option, Sam Beal, opted out of the season. They ended up going through various players such as Corey Ballentine, Isaac Yiadom, Ryan Lewis and Julian Love without finding a solution.

Jackson could be the answer to that problem.
