NFL: Favre: I considered suicide

-

Brett Favre said his addiction to painkillers led him to contemplate killing himself in 1997, coming off the last of three straight MVP’s as the starting quarterback of the Packers in an episode of Favre’s podcast “Bolling with Favre” released Tuesday.

The Hall of Fame quarterback told Dr. Phil McGraw he was dependent on painkillers while dealing with injuries in 1994.

“I said it’s one of two things — I die, or I flush these pills down the toilet. I sat by the toilet for two hours. Eventually, I dumped the pills in the toilet, flushed them and I almost wanted to kill myself because of doing that,” Favre said.

The Browns are taking another run at Jadeveon Clowney. The free-agent defensive end visited Cleveland, reviving a courtship that began last year before the No. 1 overall pick in 2014 signed a one-year deal with the Titans just before the start of the season.

Snyder is buying out the team’s minority owners in a move that gives him total control and should end a lengthy, bitter court dispute along with any speculation that he’d be pushed to sell his boyhood team he bought in 1999.
