BRADY’S LATEST RECORD
$2.25M for rookie card
There’s no deflating these prices. A rare Tom Brady rookie card recently sold for an unmatched $2.25 million.
The sum fetched Friday night through the online auction house Lelands broke a record for the sale of a football card — which was also held by the NFL superstar.
Another of
Brady’s rookie cards had been purchased just last month by

$1.32 million on

“Tom Brady continues to shatter records both on and off the football field,”
Lelands President
Mike Heffner said in a statement.
The autographed 2000
Playoff Contenders Championship Rookie Ticket (pictured) had an opening bid of $75,000 during Friday’s auction.
An anonymous buyer walked off with the prize after 67 bids were recorded.
“I wasn’t shocked [by the price], but I was certainly surprised,” Heffner told ESPN.
“I know the market is headed upward, especially with rare and desirable cards such as that one, but I didn’t really anticipate it,” Heffner added.
The latest Brady memento was numbered 99 out of 100, meaning only 100 copies were produced. It was purchased on eBay more than a decade ago and stayed tucked away in a private collection before being offered up for auction, according to the lot listing. Brady, 43, began his professional football career with the New England Patriots, where he won six Super Bowls. During that time, he was infamously wrapped up in the “Deflategate” scandal, where it was alleged that he ordered the deflation of footballs used in the Patriots’ victory against the Indianapolis Colts in the 2014 AFC Championship Game. The Patriots routed Indianapolis 45-7.
The star quarterback parted ways with the Patriots in 2020 and joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, earning his seventh Super Bowl win when the Bucs beat the defending-champ Kansas City Chiefs earlier this year.
