POLICE: HE WAS FREED TO KILL

Bailed man’s ‘gun confession’

A Brooklyn man has admitted to shooting two people — one fatally — in The Bronx while out on bail on felony firearm charges, police and sources say.

Tyrek Williams, 20, was first busted last September for allegedly having a loaded handgun on him, but seven months after making bail on that case, he allegedly shot a 26-year-old in The Bronx on April 29, cops said on Monday.

About three months later, on Aug. 18, Williams allegedly gunned down D’Andre Johnson, 24, near East 149th Street and Concord Avenue in The Bronx’s Mott Haven section, police say.

When cops arrived, they found Johnson on the ground, bleeding from gunshot wounds to his back and arm, police sources said. He was pronounced dead at Lincoln Medical Center.

Williams was nabbed on Saturday at around 5 p.m. and allegedly confessed to both shootings, telling investigators that he had fired a gun in Johnson’s direction, police sources said.

He claimed a second shooter, a 17-year-old man, was also involved, but it was not immediately clear whether that teen was taken into custody, police sources say.

Williams also allegedly admitted that he was the gunman in the nonfatal April 29 shooting, telling cops that he shot in that victim’s direction, the sources said.

He was hit with charges of murder, manslaughter and criminal use of a firearm over Johnson’s death and attempted murder and charges of criminal use of a firearm for the April shooting, according to police.

Williams had been freed after his family posted a $10,000 bond in the September gun case, said his lawyer, Edward Dudley.

The attorney said Williams was among several people taken into custody when the loaded gun was found in a car, but it was not clear whom the firearm belonged to.

“The gun was not found on anyone in particular, so the case is still pending. It has not been resolved. No one has pled guilty. That’s all I can say,” Dudley told The Post by phone, calling Williams’ latest arrest a “sad situation.”

Police Commissioner Dermot Shea, in a tweet on Monday about Williams’ arrest, lauded NYPD detectives for “pursuing those who drive violence in NYC.”

“The @NYPD40Pct apprehended a 19 y/o suspect from an April shooting. They’ve now charged him w/ that crime & the recent murder of a Bronx man — both committed while he was out on an open gun case,” Shea wrote, listing Williams’ age incorrectly.

Williams was assigned a public defender for the shooting cases. The defender did not return a request for comment.

The Bronx District Attorney’s Office did not return a request for more information.
