It’s all in the cards for Tiff

- Cindy Adams

TIFFANY Haddish is in “The Card Counter.” Director’s Paul Schrader who wrote “Taxi Driver.”

Tiffany: “It’s about a former vet (played by Oscar Isaac) who has PTSD, likes playing poker, has a poker face and is so intense that his character could win an Oscar.

“I didn’t understand the script at first. Nobody said if it’s comedy or drama. I read it three times. Third time, I said, ‘Ooh, I could knock this out the park.’ Great way for people to see me do something new but still bring the ‘Haddish’ through.”

Whatever that means, she and it are in theaters the 10th . . .

IN other Hollywood news, it’s bye-bye to Ed Asner. We talked a lot. He told me: “Certain people

I’d like to get to know. But

I’m not the sort to reach out. I don’t do those things. Like

2011, with Hurt, I played Warren Buffett in HBO’s financial crisis film ‘Too Big to Fail.’ I wanted to meet Buffett, but I’m not that type. I handle things sedately.

“I live quietly. Just pick my nose, clean my plate, read assiduously. It’s general self-isolation, so I can emit all those noises we make as we get older.

“I’m not rich. Jesus, no. We started low those days of the ‘Mary Tyler Moore Show.’ Paid as schleppers. ‘Lou Grant’ was on five years. I earned 50 grand a show. But there’s taxes, p.r. people, managers, agents, assistants, household bills. My life now is I rent a house for $3,000 a month in California where if you’re not running hot nobody suddenly knows you.”
