Helen V. Magee passed away peacefully on August 31, 2021. She was born in 1926 in Manhattan, NY, the fourth of five children. She was predecease­d by her loving husband, Michael F. Magee, her son, Stephen P. Magee, her parents, Patrick and Margaret Cotter, her siblings: Mary, John and Margaret. She is survived by her sister, Josephine O’Donohue and loving children: Jane O’Brien (James), Michael Magee (Christine) and Maryellen Rehm. She is also survived by her nine grandchild­ren: Christophe­r, Suzanne, Michael, Erin, Jennifer, Timothy, Brian, Gregory and Katie and 12 great-grandchild­ren and many nieces and nephews. Helen was originally raised in the Vinegar Hill section of Manhattan, where she was a member of Annunciati­on Parish and met her husband, Michael. They went on to raise their four children in the Highbridge and Fordham sections of the Bronx. She spent many happy years towards the end of her life in Woodlawn, NY, where she volunteere­d doing building security with her sister, Jo. Helen was a loving and caring person and a devout Catholic, attending daily mass through rain, sleet, or snow. Her family appreciate­s the care she received in her final months at Mill Gardens. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 7th from 4 - 8pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ. Helen’s funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 8th at 10am at the Church of the Nativity, 315 Prospect St., Midland Park, NJ followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W Stevens Ave, Hawthorne, NY. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice would be appreciate­d.
