Twit son exposes on-lam wiseguy
A photo of a high-ranking member of the Colombo crime family sought in a sweeping federal takedown shows him lounging in a pool — one day after he was supposed to turn himself in, a source told The Post.
Ralph DiMatteo, 66, who prosecutors say was the clan’s consigliere, is shown in the photograph posted to his son’s Twitter feed Wednesday sporting a leathery tan and half-submerged in a glistening pool.
The shirtless mobster, wearing a gold crucifix, stares directly into the camera.
His wife, identified by a source, is shown serenely floating in the water behind him with her eyes closed.
It’s unclear when or where the photo was taken.
DiMatteo — the family’s third-most-powerful member — took off to an unknown town in Florida one day before the feds arrested his 13 co-defendants on an indictment accusing them of racketeering, extortion and other raps related to the infiltration of a Queens labor union, the source said.
Mathew Mari, a lawyer for the Colombo wiseguy, had been in talks Tuesday with Brooklyn federal prosecutors about his client surrendering, according to the source.
But as of Wednesday, DiMatteo was still a fugitive, and the picture of him soaking up the rays was posted at 2:12 p.m. to son Angelo DiMatteo’s Twitter account. The post appears to have since been taken down.
Meanwhile, Colombo boss Andrew “Mush” Russo, 87, underboss Benjamin “The Claw” Castellazzo, 83, captains Theodore Persico Jr., Richard Ferrara, and Vincent Ricciardo are getting very little sun — they were ordered held without bail at their arraignments.
“Everything we allege . . . proves history does indeed repeat itself,” said Acting US Attorney Jacquelyn Kasulis in announcing the indictment.
