Laundrie’s cellphone seized by FBI

- Jorge Fitz-Gibbon

The FBI has taken Brian Laundrie’s cellphone as part of its manhunt for the 23year-old fugitive — but it is unclear where his slain girlfriend’s phone is, according to a report.

Laundrie went missing from his parents’ Florida home more than two weeks ago and is sought for questioning in the disappearance and death of 22-year-old Gabby Petito.

The FBI executed a search warrant at Laundrie’s parents’ home in North Port and returned for DNA evidence Sunday — and has taken Laundrie’s phone, Insider reported.

Laundrie family attorney Steven Bertolino confirmed last week that Laundrie fled the home without his wallet and phone.

The FBI is also trying to locate a burner phone they believe Laundrie bought at a local AT&T store on Sept. 14, the day his parents said he went for a hike and never returned, TMZ reported Wednesday.

The whereabouts of Petito’s phone, which the couple had on their ill-fated cross-country trip, remains unclear, TMZ reported.

A search warrant for a computer found in the 2012 Ford Transit van the young couple were traveling in determined that the last text message sent from Petito’s phone was on Aug. 27 to her mother, Nichole Schmidt.

Schmidt told authorities that the final text was “odd” because her daughter referred to her grandfather as “Stan,” which she never did.

Earlier that day, Petito was seen alive for the last time inside a Wyoming restaurant.

Her body was found Sept. 19 at a remote Wyoming campground near Grand Teton National Park, with her death ruled a homicide by a Teton County coroner.

Her body remains at the coroner’s office.
