Blas’ Boneheaded Priority: Cops’ ‘Customer Service’

-

Mayor de Blasio is just off the wall. The NYPD is a dedicated, selfless group of people who put their lives on the line every moment of every day (“NYPD lacks ‘customer service’: DeB,” Oct. 1).

Their dedication is self-evident in the fact that they show up for work each day, despite the obstacles politicians put in their way.

This week, I spoke with a few of these wonderful public servants in Penn Station, where the mayor had a large contingent enforcing the mask mandate. I thanked them for their dedicated care and service. We commented on how stupid it is to use such a large force of NYPD members on the mask mandate while the homeless, drugs and guns are dominating the streets.

The “customer service” that is needed is to clean up the city. Give the proper service to the law-abiding citizens and visitors to our once-wonderful city.

Get the homeless and drugs off the street. Enough is enough. Elizer Cohen

De Blasio sure doesn’t fail to deliver. The stupidity that he displays and suggests is just hilarious.

Now he wants to hire greeters at police precincts throughout the city. Crime is running rampant, and he says greeters will help solve the problem. How about hiring more police? We have 13 more weeks of this clown running the city. Gene O’Brien

De Blasio’s proclamation that he was motivated by cops who are “sometimes gruff and dismissive” to implement an initiative that “customer service has to be what the NYPD is about” underscores how totally disconnected from reality the mayor and other New York Democratic leaders are.

While murders in New York have increased exponentially and children are being gunned down on our streets, while muggings, knifings, bias attacks and open harddrug use are rampant, Democrats are refusing to repeal their irrational no-bail laws.

Eric Adams is virtually the only Democrat to acknowledge the violence and mayhem in New York City.

There will be a collective sigh of relief by police across the city when this moron of a mayor finishes his term.

He campaigned by bashing them and throttled them whenever he could. He never took their side. Now he wants them to be service-oriented. He has no understanding of the term. The NYPD is the most service-oriented it has ever been.

Moreover, their ultimate service, at any time, includes giving up their lives to protect others. Most people who go to work expect to come home. The police cannot guarantee that.

This mayor failed in his basic task of protecting the people of this city. I say good riddance, and may the door hit you in your behind as well.

With shootings, muggings and subway slashing terrorizing the city, de Blasio is most concerned about some police officers acting in a “gruff and dismissive” manner.

Really? Could it be that some officers are a tad impatient with some members of the public? Being assaulted with frozen water bottles by the proud progressives probably challenges the patience of the street cop.

This is especially true since those “peaceful protesters” had the blessing of the administration.

The liberal concept that cops should essentially be social workers is political theater at its most absurd. Ask a subway rider if he’d rather ride with a social worker or a cop. Robert Mangi

De Blasio is focusing on police precincts displaying a better level of “customer service” to the community.

I would think that fewer murders, fewer assaults and fewer robberies would be the kind of customer service by police that people would truly appreciate.

Once again, Mayor Moron is focused on style over substance. Robert DiNardo
