Germans are bracing themselves for a showdown on speed limits on the autobahn in the aftermath of national elections.

Drivers on the federal highway system have historical­ly been able to go as fast they want to on some stretches of the motorway.

But they may now face speed limits of up to 81 mph after the Green Party, which will help form a ruling coalition with the winning Social Democrats, made it a major plank of their campaign.

Tompa the polar bear, who took a wrong turn and ended up nearly 2,000 miles south of his Siberian habitat, now has a new home at the Moscow Zoo.

Rescuers found Tompa, emaciated and weak, near a town in the republic of Sakha. Officials from the Ministry of Defense and the Russian Geographic­al Society transporte­d her to the zoo.

The tango is officially back in Buenos Aires after the COVID pandemic shut down dance halls and prevented steamy embraces in Argentina’s traditiona­l dance over the last 18 months.

The family of Argentine soccer legend Diego Maradona is fighting over the use of his image as a rallying cry in Italy’s Naples municipal election Sunday.

Hugo Maradona, Diego’s brother, is running a right-wing campaign using the image of the late soccer superstar, who moved to Naples in 1984 to play for SSC Napoli, the city’s beloved team. Maradona died last year in Argentina.

Hugo was blasted this week by Maradona’s son, Diego Jr., who trains the Napoli United team. Diego Jr. said he might sue his uncle.

The traditiona­l qipao is having a renaissanc­e in China.

Also known by its Cantonese name cheongsam, the garment is a long gown with a high collar and brocade buttons originatin­g in the Qing dynasty (1644-1911).

The dress became shorter and more form-fitting in the 1950s. Now traditiona­l tailors are training a new cadre of designers to keep up with demand.
