Pushed victim’s anguish

- Amanda Woods

The straphanger hurt Monday when a woman randomly pushed her into an arriving train at the Times Square subway station said she “never thought it would happen to me.”

Lenny Javier, 42, of New Jersey, told WCBS-TV that the morning rush-hour attack left her with serious injuries.

“My face is swollen. I have a broken nose, a fractured chin,” Javier said.

The suspect, later identified as Anthonia Egegbara, 29, of Far Rockaway, Queens, was shown in surveillance footage sitting on a platform bench just after 8 a.m. — and getting up to perfectly time her push as the train rolled in.

Javier slammed into the side of the oncoming uptown No. 3 train but did not fall onto the tracks.

Instead, she toppled backwards onto the platform, suffering severe injuries to her face and legs.

“I never thought it would happen to me,” Javier (above, with her father) said of the unprovoked assault. “Someone needs to take responsibility for this because it can’t be happening.”

Javier could not be reached by The Post.

Egegbara, who is schizophrenic and has a long rap sheet, according to a law-enforcement source, was taken into custody Tuesday morning.

She was charged with attempted murder, assault and attempted assault and held on $100,000 cash over $500,000 insurance company bond at her Wednesday arraignment.

Arrests of Egegbara in the past 10 years include busts for assaulting three other women, ages 18, 40 and 57, according to police.

Javier told WCBS-TV she will need surgery on her arm but is expected to make a full recovery.
