Garland’s Obscene Move: Quashing Parents’ Dissent

-

Kudos to The Post for both its recent editorial (“Criminalizing Dissent,” Oct. 7) and columnist Christopher Rufo (“Dissent is not domestic terror,” Oct. 7).

It is apparent school boards don’t want parents interfering with their actions and want to make a federal case out of dissent. We do have such things as freedom of speech and freedom of assembly.

We should not be weaponizing the FBI against moms and dads who are upset with things like maskings, vax mandates or critical-race-theory curricula.

The National School Boards Association has seriously suggested that parents be prosecuted under the Patriot Act and federal hate-crimes legislation.

Angry speech is not “threats” or “violence.” Calling people epithets can be nasty but isn’t “an act of violence.”

The Biden administration needs to be standing up for parents questioning their school board members on school policy. Salvator Giarratani

If Attorney General Merrick Garland really believed that First Amendment free-speech protection “does not extend to threats or violence or efforts to intimidate individuals based on their views,” he would have begun investigating the Antifa, Black Lives Matter and social-media and campus cancellation mobs the moment he took office.

But instead, he believes only in using the FBI to bully those who object to the progressive agenda. Bill Marsano

So now the left wants to

sic the FBI on parents who are fighting against their kids being taught hate by the radicals controlling our education systems. Is anyone surprised?

It’s way past time for people — and the media in particular — to call these people out for who they really are: They are communists, pure and simple. Everything they do reeks of Marxism: Do what we tell you. No dissent allowed.

What easier way to control your population than by keeping them dumb and ignorant and fighting among themselves while they do not see their freedoms being taken away from them? Peter Morrissey

The notion of mothers as marauders, as “terrorists” and as crazies may fly at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., because this administration is lawless, but nowhere else.

Human mothers, like those in the wild, are protective of their litter until the kids can fend for themselves, and those who intercede do so at their peril.

Moms in Virginia were appalled at school boards that disregarded their concern for curricula that included racial hatred directed at whites and divisive texts that include garbled history lessons.

Whose mother would not object to that instead of classic readin’, writin’, and ’rithmetic?

Garland and President Biden are fools for thinking that moms would accept the crap they’re trying to feed the kids. Bless the mothers.

The Post is to be commended for exposing Garland and his “Justice” Department for exactly what they are under the Biden administration: puppets of the woke left.

Parents pushing back against the teaching of that pernicious and rancid educational cancer, critical race theory, might now be investigated as “domestic terrorists.”

Do forgive us for thinking that the AG’s primary job is to enforce the law of the land and the First Amendment.

Thanks are due to Mitch McConnell and other Senate Republicans for blocking the nomination of Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court in 2016.

By allowing the Justice Department and FBI to become agents of the teachers unions, he has shown that his commitment to free speech takes a back seat to his political loyalties.

Fortunately, we will not be subjected to his distorted view of the Constitution as a Supreme Court justice.
