Stop Coddling Criminals After Tragedy in Waukesha

Darrell Brooks is a menace to society (“Christmas rampage,” Nov. 22).

I can’t believe a judge only gave him $1,000 bail for a second-degree felony less than a month ago. Let’s keep in mind, he’s a repeat offender.

If I had a chance, I’d like to have a word or two with that judge. If Brooks was given a higher bail, maybe this tragedy would not have happened.

At this point, he should be locked away for good. Maybe some mental counseling will do him some good.

My heart goes out to those who lost loved ones in this tragic event that didn’t have to happen. Kevin Rosinger

As if any further proof were needed concerning the damage and destruction caused by misguided bail reform and irresponsible progressive prosecutors, the horrific tragedy in Waukesha reminds us, yet again, that refusing to hold criminals accountable in the name of social justice is an unacceptable threat to innocent citizens — including young children — and civilized society.

Tragically, for every one felon released in Waukesha, literally dozens are mindlessly released in New York City, with predictably horrifying results.

Our leaders for the past eight years have been shamefully silent in the wake of this carnage — including our mayor — who now ludicrously seeks higher office.

Hopefully our new mayor will return sanity and accountability to New York’s criminal justice system.

When will the people who are responsible for the justice system, such as judges, district attorneys and elected officials, realize that violent felons have no business being released to the streets?

I am appalled at how broken our justice system is at this time. The release of Darrell Brooks made no sense when you look at his criminal background. He knew how to play the system.

As Albert Einstein reportedly said, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over, expecting to get different results.”

When will voters stop the insanity and elect officials that will get tough on violent crime?

The recent murder and maiming of people in

Wisconsin, allegedly by this thug who was arrested for doing the same thing with his car as recently as Nov. 2, is devastating. He was released on low bail.

Illinois Democrat Mary Lemanski had the audacity to call this attack “karma” for the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict. Perhaps when she sees the coffins of the victims, including children, lowered into the ground, she may reconsider these disgusting words.

People in Manhattan actually voted for new District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who is even more lenient on bail-reform ideas than current DA Cyrus Vance. What a joke. Saul Mishaan

The massacre in Waukesha, Wis., on Sunday not only took innocent life but inexorably destroyed the lives of its many survivors. Should the nation’s scorn solely be focused on the “person of interest” perpetrator of this ineffable horror? Not by a long shot.

Recidivist, sociopathic human garbage should not take the lion’s share of blame for this — or for countless other easily preventable tragedies.

That guilt lies clearly with the grotesque abandoning of civilized law, perpetrated by the woke “social justice” goons who have inhabited, for far too long, the positions of DAs, judges and state legislators.

True social justice in this country will be achieved when criminals are put behind bars without apology and kept there. Anthony Park
