It’s time for an Anthony ectomy

- By POST EDITORIAL BOARD

WE’VE said it before, and we’ll say it again: Dr. Anthony Fauci must go.

President Biden said he delayed a travel ban from eight African nations until Monday “because that was the recommendation coming from my medical team,” which is led by Fauci.

For what possible rationale!? What reason could there be not to implement the ban immediately to prevent the spread of the Omicron variant. Particularly when 10 percent of passengers on two flights from South Africa to Holland tested positive for COVID.

Fauci already has flipflopped on masks, he’s lied about the US funding of gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab, and he’s unconvincingly cast doubt on the lableak theory even though that looks increasingly likely. He opposed the travel ban from China at the start of the pandemic.

Now he says, with smug defeatism, that he “wouldn’t be surprised” if Omicron was already here. So what? We just give up? We don’t bother to try to contain it abroad if perhaps Omicron isn’t here?

Anthony Fauci will push for the most draconian lockdowns on the American people, and push us into sacrificing our freedoms — but faced with the inconvenience of a small number of foreign visitors and citizens abroad, he’s suddenly against restrictions.

Delaying the travel ban is a terrible, likely deadly, mistake. Stop listening to this man. Stop allowing him to dictate COVID policy.

And, President Biden, step up to the plate, prevent flights immediately, seal the borders, and act like someone who cares about our country.
