’Hawks still in danger of disappointing

- Dloftis@nypost.com

IT IS the season of giving, and the Seahawks finally delivered some points to fantasy managers this week. What a nice surprise after more than a month of fantasy coal.

Seattle feasted on a sloppy 49ers team Sunday in a 30-32 victory. It was the first time since Week 8 that the Seahawks topped 15 points as a team. Strangely, Week 8 was the last time Geno Smith started in place of Russell Wilson — one of those stranger things that proves we are living in the Upside Down.

Does this spike in point production foretell a return to the “norm”? Or was it an isolated anomaly produced by a dysfunctional offense?

There is good news. Wilson completed 30 of his 37 passes. Since returning from finger surgery, he has gotten steadily more accurate each week — going from 50 percent in Week 10 to 53.8 then 64.5 before 81.1 percent this week.

But it’s not all good, because he managed just 231 yards passing Sunday. That 7.7 yards per completion would rate lower than any of the 32 NFL teams so far this season.

But hey, at least they scored some points this week, right? And scoring real-life points leads to fantasy points, doesn’t it? Well, normally. But how many fantasy managers started Travis Homer? And how often will he produce 9 PPR points off three offensive touches?

Because you see, almost the entirety of Homer’s points came on special teams via a 73-yard, fakepunt touchdown — which is laughably applied by most fantasy sites as a rushing TD rather than a special teams score.

Also note the Seahawks got three turnovers in San Francisco territory. They managed to score on just one of those. That doesn’t scream “effective!” to us.

Then you have the New Old Adrian Peterson, who looked a lot like the Old Old Adrian Peterson, circa the Titans a few weeks ago. Sure, he scored a touchdown, but he also gained just 16 yards on 11 carries. He seemed to be doing his best Alex Collins impression. Collins sat out Sunday with an abdomen injury, after doing an Old Old Adrian Peterson imitation since Chris Carson went down in Week 4.

Rashaad Penny showed some life — 10 runs for 35 yards and one catch for 27. But if coach Pete Carroll is sending out newly acquired AP just days after signing him, how much faith can he actually have in fourth-year backup Penny? Plus, presumably, Collins will be back soon to stink up the backfield again.

This team rises and falls with Wilson, and the upcoming schedule for him isn’t a cakewalk — none of Seattle’s remaining opponents were worse than middle-of-the-pack defending fantasy QBs, heading into Week 13.

So what do we think? To quote the esteemed Admiral Ackbar: “It’s a trap!” You can do worse than Wilson or DK Metcalf or Tyler Lockett, but don’t let your guard down after this one game. Even those previous studs are no longer automatic starts.
