Khalid Abdalla enters ‘The Crown’ universe as doomed Dodi Al-Fayed.

PRINCESS Diana and Dodi Al-Fayed’s ill-fated romance is back in the public eye. Season 5 of “The Crown” on Netflix will dive deep into the love affair between the late couple. The Princess of Wales and the Egyptian film producer both died during a car crash in Paris on Aug. 31, 1997.

Photos of the actor playing Fayed, Khalid Abdalla (“Hanna”), as well as photos from the set were released and gave fans another glimpse at the upcoming season.

Abdalla rocked Fayed’s mustache, jeans and a long olive coat while shooting. The actor was filming a scene for the series that showed Fayed on the set of the 1981 sports drama “Chariots of Fire,” on which he was an executive producer. Abdalla was also joined by actor Salim Dau, who portrays the late filmmaker’s father and former owner of Harrod’s, Mohamed al-Fayed.

Another photo from “The Crown” set featured Abdalla walking on the beach and talking with his onscreen dad.

Fayed and Diana pursued a relationsh­ip in July 1997, just a few weeks before their untimely deaths. Mohammed had invited Diana and her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, aboard his yacht that fateful summer.

On the day of their passings, the couple had stopped in Paris while on their way to London. The pair had spent almost 10 days together, vacationin­g in the French and Italian Rivieras.

Harry, 37, shed some light on his mother’s relationsh­ip with Fayed in his Apple TV+ series “The Me You Can’t See.” Speaking of his wife, Meghan Markle, and the alleged racism she faced, he noted, “History was repeating itself. My mother was chased to her death while she was in a relationsh­ip with someone that wasn’t white and now look what’s happened.

“You wanna talk about history repeating itself ? They’re not gonna stop until she dies. It’s incredibly triggering to potentiall­y lose another woman in my life,” he added.

Season 5 of the hit royal drama recently wrapped production early just before the upcoming holidays. Eight crew members tested positive for COVID-19. The show will resume production come January.

“The Crown” is set to return to Netflix in November 2022.
