Ryan prefers anger to apathy from fans

Logan Ryan prefers listening to the anger from passionate Giants fans to searching far and wide for Titans fans.

The Rutgers product and New Jersey native is especially qualified to understand the demands of area fans. After spending four seasons with the Patriots and three with the Titans, he joined the Giants’ secondary in 2020 — the fourth of what is now five straight seasons with at least 10 losses.

“We realize it — and [losing] is just not OK,” Ryan said. “Their reaction is OK. The product isn’t OK right now. I take that to heart as a leader on this team. I haven’t felt like the preparation, the work has always [translated] to the result on the field. I understand that and take my share of ownership on that. I just try to symbolize the way to play.”

Ryan will play Sunday for the first game in his nine-year career in which his team has been eliminated from the playoffs before kickoff.

“It’s a privilege to play here,” Ryan said. “I played in a franchise in Tennessee where the fan base was nonexistent. You couldn’t even get fans to the games. You had to put tickets half-off to get fans to the games. So, I understand the tradition of this area, the history of the NFC East, what these rivalries mean with Philly, Dallas and the Washington Football Team. It means a lot [that] this is what people talk about day-in and day-out.”

➤ A lengthy injury report after Wednesday’s walk-through included nine players who would not have participated in a typical practice and five who would have been limited. Center Billy Price is included, but his absence was due to personal reasons, per the report.

Oft-injured WR Kadarius Toney (shoulder) is hurt again. He missed four games with quad and oblique injuries before returning to make four catches last week. He also missed a game earlier this season with an ankle injury.

CB Darnay Holmes is eligible to come off injured reserve, but won’t this week. There is only a “small outside shot” he will play in the season finale, head coach Joe Judge said.

DT Dexter Lawrence was added to the COVID-19 reserve list and is likely out Sunday against the Bears. If their symptoms improve, DL Danny Shelton ,S Julian Love and LT Nate Solder are eligible to play under the revised protocols to reduce missed time, according to Judge.

CB Adoree’ Jackson , CB Keion Crossen and WR John Ross are in the ramp-up period to return from COVID-19 and on track to play.
