NFL: 12 Eagles land on COVID list

The Eagles have placed defensive tackle Fletcher Cox and tight end Dallas Goedert along with 10 others on the reserve/ COVID-19 list Monday ahead of Saturday’s regular-season finale against Dallas.

The Eagles (9-7) already have a playoff berth clinched with only the seeding still to be decided when they host the Cowboys (11-5). Under the NFL’s revised COVID-19 protocols, the Eagles could get all 12 back before kickoff.

Raiders rookie cornerback Nate Hobbs was arrested in Las Vegas on a misdemeanor DUI charge shortly after the team returned from a road game in Indianapolis. Hobbs failed a field sobriety test and was booked at the Clark County Detention Center for a misdemeanor DUI.

Hobbs’ arrest comes about two months after Raiders receiver Henry Ruggs III was involved in a drunk driving crash that killed a 23-year-old woman. Ruggs has been charged with felonies in that case and was released by the Raiders shortly after. NCAA: Sooners QB in transfer portal

The college football world experienced tremors on Monday as Oklahoma quarterback Caleb Williams announced he is entering the transfer portal.

Williams beat out Spencer Rattler, formerly the most highly touted recruit in the country, for the starting quarterback job this season. Rattler entered the transfer portal in November, and ultimately committed to South Carolina.

Williams mentioned “recent changes” in his note — a clear reference to coach Lincoln Riley’s departure to USC — and said he hasn’t ruled out a return to Oklahoma, but that entering the portal is the only way he can legally hear what other programs would have to offer. — Ryan Glasspiegel
