Cuomo sues CNN for $125M
FIRED CNN anchor Chris Cuomo has filed an arbitration claim seeking a staggering $125 million, claiming his “journalistic integrity” has been “unjustifiably smeared,” Page Six has confirmed.
Lawyers for the disgraced newsman and brother of former Gov. Andrew Cuomo argue that Chris “has been damaged in countless ways” by being “unceremoniously” fired late last year.
The filing says the amount of damages is based on lost back pay, bonuses, future earnings — and, to the tune of $110 million, what Cuomo says was former CNN boss Jeff Zucker violating Cuomo’s contract by “disparaging” him.
Cuomo was fired for helping his brother fight the sexual harassment allegations that led to the governor’s resignation. Zucker and his lover Allison Gollust both resigned from CNN when it came to light that they were in a relationship they hadn’t disclosed to the network — and, according to Chris’ suit, because of their own ties to Andrew.
Chris Cuomo’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, told The Post in a statement: “It should by now be obvious to everyone that [he] did not lie to CNN about helping his brother. In fact, as the limited information released from [parent company] WarnerMedia’s investigation makes clear, CNN’s highest-level executives not only knew about Chris’ involvement in helping his brother but also actively assisted [Andrew], both through Chris and directly.”
Referencing the claim in the suit that Zucker and Gollust advised the then-governor on how to handle his infamous daily briefings during the pandemic, Freedman continued: “As CNN has admitted, network standards were changed in a calculated decision to boost ratings. When those practices were called into question, Chris was made the scapegoat.
“Cuomo has had his journalistic integrity unjustifiably smeared, making it difficult if not impossible for Cuomo to find similar work in the future,” he concluded. Reps for CNN and WarnerMedia didn’t comment.
