New gadget offers vibrating facial therapy
I got engaged last week. Which means I now can only care about two things, apparently: shimmying into impossible bridal fashion silhouettes and the appearance of fine lines. I’m not willing to give up my hazelnut frozen yogurt habit, so I’m choosing to fixate on the latter.
Accordingly, when presented with the opportunity to test the newly launched TheraFace PRO
($399) from Therabody (the maker of the fan-favorite Theragun massager) I was curious.
Like the Theragun, the TheraFace PRO provides percussive therapy, which in this case is geared toward your face to, as the company states, reduce facial tension and relax facial muscles.
The 8-in-1 gizmo also offers a microcurrent to firm and tighten your skin, a cleansing ring, three LED light therapies (aimed at combatting acne and wrinkles) and hot/cold rings (sold separately for $99) “designed to reduce tension, pain [and] inflammation.”
Having now test-driven the lightweight tool nightly for the past week, it’s safe to say the device also offers a therapeutic effect, with its gentle pulsations.
If you suffer from tension headaches or have pain from grinding your jaw, you may find the sensation provides sweet, sweet relief. I even ran it over my neck and hairline for an extra massage. I’m also a big fan of the cold ring attachment, with three temperature settings, which, it is claimed, can help skin absorb creams, reduce facial puffiness and improve radiance.
The folks at Therabody also claim its countenance cure-all is clinically proven to enhance your skin’s appearance.
On a Zoom call with chiropractor Jason Wersland, inventor of Theragun and Therabody cofounder, he stressed this isn’t about vanity. “This is about facial health. This is not a beauty device.”
If nothing else, carving out a few minutes to pamper yourself and enjoy its oddly tranquilizing comfort sure beats shedding for any wedding.
