Red Sox righty Nathan Eovaldi had an inning to forget Tuesday night versus the Astros.

Houston hit a whopping five home runs in the second inning — three into the seats above the Green Monster at Fenway Park — while batting around in what became a 13-4 Astros victory.

Yordan Alvarez led off the inning with a homer over the Monster. Then it was Kyle Tucker, with a man on, homering to right. The next batter, Jeremy Peña homered to left. After Eovaldi finally got an out, but put two men on, Michael Brantley blasted a three-run shot to right. One out and one more runner later, Yuli Gurriel sent Eovadi packing, after just 1 2/3 innings, with a two-run blast over the Monster.

By the end of the onslaught, it was 9-1 Astros, and Tyler Danish had been called in to close out the inning by getting Tucker on a groundout. Two innings later, Tucker hit a grand slam off Danish.

Eovaldi became just the third pitcher in Major League Baseball history to allow five home runs in a single inning. He has allowed 14 homers this season after giving up just 15 home runs in 32 starts last year.

Per ESPN, it was the first time the Red Sox had given up five long balls in a single inning and the first time Houston had accomplished the feat.

“We got five on it,” the Astros’ social media account tweeted, referencing the classic 1995 song “I Got 5 On It” by the rap duo Luniz.

The other two pitchers who have given up five home runs in one inning are Chase Anderson for the Blue Jays in 2020 and Michael Blazek for the Brewers in 2017.
