MLB: Chisox win, but lose Anderson

Shortstop Tim Anderson left the White Sox’s 5-4, 12-inning win Sunday over the Cubs at Guaranteed Rate Field with a right groin strain and is headed for the injured list. The Chisox won the season series with their crosstown rivals on a game-ending RBI single by Jake Burger.

● In Atlanta, Marcell Ozuna hit two home runs as part of the Braves’ barrage of extra-base hits in their 6-3 win over the Marlins, giving the Braves their first winning homestand of the season.

● In Boston, Bobby Dalbec hit a tworun homer, one of Boston’s season-high five long balls, and the Red Sox coasted to a 12-2 victory over the Orioles.

● In Minneapoli­s, Sonny Gray cruised before leaving in the seventh inning because of right pectoral soreness, and the Twins beat the Royals, 7-3, behind Gio Urshela’s three-run homer.

NCAA: Hofstra claims conference title

● In Elon, N.C., Hofstra earned its first Colonial Athletic Associatio­n baseball crown with a dramatic 7-6 victory over Northeaste­rn in the conference final.

Ryan Morash was hit by a pitch with two outs and the bases loaded to score Brian Morrell for the championsh­ip-winning run as the third-seeded Pride earned their third walk-off win of the tournament.

In Omaha, Neb., Jimmy Obertop hit a three-run home run in the eighth and two runs scored on a bunt in the ninth as fifth-seeded Michigan pulled away from second-seeded Rutgers for a 10-4 in the championsh­ip game of the Big Ten Tournament.

GOLF: Burns takes Colonial in playoff

Sam Burns made a 38-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole at Colonial, which came just more than two hours after he had finished his round, to beat top-ranked Scottie Scheffler in Fort Worth, Texas.

● In Las Vegas, Eun-Hee Ji won the Bank of Hope LPGA Match-Play for a spot next week in the U.S. Women’s Open, beating Ayaka Furue 3 and 2 in cooler conditions at Shadow Creek.

● In Benton Harbor, Mich., Steven Alker closed with an 8-under 63 for a threeshot victory in the Senior PGA Championsh­ip, his third title this year and first major.

ETC.: Liberty crushed in Seattle

Jewell Loyd scored 22 points as the host Seattle Storm took control in the second quarter and cruised to a 92-61 victory over the skidding Liberty. Reserve Han Xu scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Liberty.

● In London, two-time European Cup winner Nottingham Forest is back in the English Premier League for the first time since 1999 after beating Huddersfie­ld, 1-0, in the Championsh­ip playoff final at Wembley Stadium.

● In Concord, N.C., Denny Hamlin held off Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Kyle Busch in overtime to win the Coca-Cola 600.

● In Monaco, Sergio Perez rebounded from Red Bull team orders that denied him a chance to race for the win one week ago to pick up his first Formula One win of the season in the rain-marred Monaco Grand Prix.

● Veteran Maple Leafs forward Jason Spezza announced his retirement after a 19-season NHL career and will join Toronto’s front office.
