Dynamic Daniels, LSU hand No. 7 Ole Miss its first loss

Jayden Daniels ran for three touchdowns and passed for two scores, and LSU roared back from an early two-touchdown deficit to hand No. 7 Mississipp­i its first loss this season, 45-20, Saturday in Baton Rouge, La.

The performanc­e gave the dynamic Daniels the record for touchdowns rushing in a season by a Tigers (6-2, 4-1 SEC) quarterbac­k, with nine.

After being outgained 200-80 in the first quarter and falling behind, 17-3, on Jonathan Cruz’s field goal to start the second quarter, LSU outscored Ole Miss (7-1, 3-1) 41-3 the remainder of the game.

In Fort Worth, Texas, Max Duggan threw for 280 yards with three touchdowns as the eighth-ranked Horned Frogs (7-0, 4-0 Big 12) again rallied from a big early deficit to top the No. 17 Wildcats (5-2, 3-1).

In Stillwater, Okla., Spencer Sanders passed for 391 yards and two touchdowns, including the 41-yard game-winner to Bryson Green with just over three minutes remaining for No. 11 Cowboys (6-1, 3-1 Big 12).

In Winston-Salem, N.C., Sam Hartman threw five touchdown passes and ran for another score as the No. 13 Demon Deacons (6-1, 2-1 ACC) downed the Eagles (2-5, 1-4).

In State College, Pa., Sean Clifford threw four touchdown passes, Penn State’s defense forced seven punts and the No. 16 Nittany Lions (6-1, 3-1 Big Ten) beat the Gophers (4-3, 1-3).

Cincinnati 29, SMU 27

In Dallas, Ryan Coe kicked a school-record five field goals as the No. 21 Bearcats (6-1, 3-0 American) broke up a game-tying 2-point play in the closing minutes to hold off the Mustangs (3-4, 1-2).

Tulane 38, Memphis 28

In New Orleans, Michael Pratt threw for a touchdown and ran for another and Tyjae Spears ran for 125 yards and another score as the No. 25 Green Wave (7-1, 4-0 American) defeated the Tigers (4-4, 2-3).

Rutgers 24, Indiana 17

At SHI Stadium, Samuel Brown V had a career-high 101 yards rushing and a touchdown as the Scarlet Knights (4-3, 1-3 Big Ten) rallied past the Hoosiers (3-5, 1-4).
