SPORTS SHORTS NFL: Red Bulls rally past Crew

Dante Vanzeir scored the go-ahead goal in the 86th minute and the Red Bulls rallied for a 2-1 win over the Columbus Crew in Harrison, N.J., on Saturday night. The Belgian winger scored a right-footed shot at the right post after a cross by John Tolkin to give the Red Bulls their first win of the season. Luquinhas got the equalizer in the 58th minute for the Red Bulls.

Santiago Rodriguez collected a goal and an assist to lead New York City Football Club to a 3-2 win over visiting D.C. United at Yankee Stadium. Talles Magno and Thiago Andrade also scored and Gabriel Pereira and Braian Cufre each had an assist for NYCFC, which won its second straight game.

NHL: Panthers defeat Devils

Sam Reinhart scored two of the Panthers’ four third-period goals as his team rallied to beat the Devils 4-2 in Sunrise, Fla. Nico Hischier and Jesper Boqvist scored in the second period for the Devils and rookie goalie Akira Schmid made 36 saves. The Devils have lost three straight.

In Philadelph­ia, Sebastian Aho had a hat trick, including the winning goal 28 seconds into overtime after Martin Necas tied it with 0.3 seconds left in regulation, and the Hurricanes rallied to beat the Flyers 5-4.

In Nashville, Neal Pionk scored 55 seconds into overtime to give the Jets a 3-2 victory over the Predators.

In St. Paul, Minn., David Pastrnak scored his 47th goal of the season and Linus Ullmark made 29 saves as the Bruins beat the Wild 5-2.

In Seattle, Evander Kane recorded his second hat trick of the season and the Oilers gained some cushion in the Western Conference playoff chase with a 6-4 win over the Kraken.

NBA: Jazz get past Celtics

Lauri Markkanen scored 28 points and Walker Kessler had a game-saving block of a potential Celtics’ game-winning layup by Grant Williams just before the buzzer to help the Jazz to a 118-117 comeback win over the Celtics.

In Indianapol­is, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey each scored 31 points as the 76ers defeated the Pacers 141-121 to match their season high with an eighth consecutiv­e win.

In Memphis, Jaren Jackson Jr. had 31 points and four blocks and the Grizzlies used a fourth-quarter push to defeat the Warriors 133-119.

GOLF: Schenk takes Valspar lead

Adam Schenk hit his approach to the 18th hole to 5 feet and made the birdie putt for a 1-under 70, giving him a one-shot lead over Jordan Spieth and Tommy Fleetwood at the end of the third round of the Valspar Championsh­ip in Palm Harbor, Fla. Schenk will attempt to get his first victory on the PGA Tour on Sunday.

In Marana, Ariz., Marc Leishman opened with an eagle and held it together in the middle of his round for a 5-under 66, giving him a two-shot lead over Sergio Garcia going into the third and final round of LIV Golf Tucson. ETC.: Edwards retains UFC title

Leon Edwards retained his welterweig­ht title, beating challenger Kamaru Usman at UFC 286 by majority decision. Judges scored the trilogy fight at the O2 Arena in London 48-46, 48-46, 47-47 in favor of the Jamaican-born Brit.

In Indian Wells, Calif., Carlos Alcaraz defeated Jannik Sinner 7-6 (4), 6-3 to advance to the BNP Paribas Open final against Daniil Medvedev. Medvedev beat Frances Tiafoe 7-5, 7-6 (4).
