Rock and roll in mud

- By MARK MOORE

Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump traded slights on Monday as the Florida governor issued his first public remarks about the former president’s claim that he will be arrested.

The back-and-forth began at a Monday news conference after DeSantis (inset) blasted Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who is reportedly close to indicting Trump over an alleged hush-money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 presidential election, as a “Sorosfunded prosecutor.”

DeSantis, a likely main rival to Trump as he seeks the 2024 Republican nomination, did not mention the ex-president by name but threw shade his way over the alleged hushmoney payments.

“I don’t know what goes into paying hush money to a porn star to secure silence over some type of alleged affair. I just, I can’t speak to that,” he said, drawing a laugh from the audience.

Trump hit back by slinging mud, insinuating without evimay dence that DeSantis have “partied with underage girls” and suggesting the Republican governor might face male or female accusers.

“Ron DeSanctimonious will probably find out about FALSE ACCUSATIONS & FAKE STORIES sometime in the future, as he gets older, wiser, and better known, when he’s unfairly and illegally attacked by a woman, even classmates that are “underage” (or possibly a man!). I’m sure he will want to fight these misfits just like I do!” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post on Monday.

The former president shared the message with an image purportedly of DeSantis with three young-looking women, one of them with a drink in hand.

“Ron DeSantis partied with underage girls at drinking party while teaching at Georgia school,” a caption above the image claimed.

There’s no evidence to support the wild allegations or the veracity of the photograph shared by the ex-president.

Trump said on social media over the weekend that he was going to be arrested Tuesday over his alleged hush money payment.
