MLB: Devils handed another loss

Timo Meier and Dawson Mercer tallied goals for the Devils, but it wasn’t enough as the Capitals won, 4-2, Friday night at Prudential Center as the home team lost for the third time in four games.

The Penguins announced they will retire Jaromir Jagr’s No. 68 before a visit from the Kings on Feb. 18. Jagr spent the first 11 of his 24 seasons in the NHL in Pittsburgh, helping the Penguins win the Stanley Cup in 1991 and 1992.

NBA: Doncic, Mavs dump Clips

Luka Doncic scored 44 points and the Mavericks routed the Clippers 144-126 on Friday night in Dallas in an NBA In-Season Tournament game, the Clippers’ third straight loss since James Harden joined the lineup.

In Sacramento, Domantas Sabonis had 17 points, 13 assists and 12 rebounds to lead the Kings to a 105-98 win over the Thunder.

In San Antonio, Karl-Anthony Towns had 29 points and 12 rebounds, and the Timberwolv­es overcame 29 points from Victor Wembanyama to hold off the Spurs, 117-110, in their In-Season Tournament opener.

GOLF: Noren up 2 in Bermuda

Alex Noren started with three birdies and then he wondered if he would make another. He picked up two more late in the second round Friday in Southampto­n, Bermuda and posted a 5-under 66 for a twoshot lead going into the weekend at the Butterfiel­d Bermuda Championsh­ip.

In Sun City, South Africa, Max Homa maintained a share of the lead at the Nedbank Golf Challenge by shooting a 4-under 68 in the second round, with Matthieu Pavon joining him atop the leaderboar­d.
