MLB: Ex-Met Hodges dies at 74

Ron Hodges, a catcher who spent his entire 12-season major league career with the Mets, died Friday. He was 74. Hodges died at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital after a short illness, Mets spokesman Jay Horwitz said. Hodges finished with a .240 batting average, 19 homers and 147 RBIs during a big league career from 1973-84.

NBA: Pacers clinch tourney berth

Tyrese Haliburton had 26 points and 10 assists and the Pacers won 136-113 over the Pistons in Indianapol­is to finish 4-0 in group play in the NBA’s inaugural In-Season Tournament, wrapping up a home quarterfin­al date.

● In Orlando, Moritz Wagner scored 27 points and the Magic beat the Celtics 113-96 in the In-Season Tournament and claim their sixth straight victory.

● In Minneapoli­s, De’Aaron Fox had 36 points and 12 assists and Sacramento improved to 3-0 in Group C with a 124-11 win over the Timberwolv­es.

NFL: Commanders fire coaches

Commanders head coach Ron Rivera dismissed defensive coordinato­r Jack Del Rio and defensive backs coach Brent Vieselmeye­r less than 28 hours after a 45-10 Thanksgivi­ng Day drubbing at the hands of the Cowboys in Dallas.

NHL: Red Wings top Bruins

Alex DeBrincat and J.T. Compher each had a goal and an assist, and the Red Wings won at Boston 5-2 for their second victory over the NHL-leading Bruins this season.

In Chicago, rookie defenseman Kevin Korchinski scored 4:30 into overtime, and the Blackhawks stopped a five-game slide with a 4-3 victory over the Maple Leafs.

NCAA: Baylor wins NIT tip-off

RayJ Dennis had 24 points and eight assists to lead No. 13 Baylor to a 95-91 win over Florida in the championsh­ip game of the NIT Season Tip-Off held at the Barclays Center.

● In San Diego, Payton Sandfort scored 22 points and Iowa beat Seton Hall 85-72 in the Rady Children’s Invitation­al. Dre Davis scored 18 points to lead Seton Hall (4-2).

● Angel Reese did not make the trip to the Cayman Islands with No. 7 LSU as they won 99-65 over Niagara on Friday. LSU coach Kim Mulkey did not say when Reese, an All-American who has missed the last three games, will return.

● In Hartford, Conn., Tristen Newton recorded his third career triple-double and No. 5 UConn routed Manhattan 90-60 to win its 23rd consecutiv­e non-conference game.

● In Paradise Island, Bahamas, RJ Davis matched his career-high with 30 points and No. 14 North Carolina beat No. 20 Arkansas 87-72 in the third-place game of the Battle 4 Atlantis.

GOLF: Rama takes Joburg lead

South African golfer Nikhil Rama rose to the top of the leaderboar­d at the Joburg Open after hitting an 8-under 62 in the second round on Friday in Johannesbu­rg.
