Trump’s Longtime Accuser: Fame From Defamation
THE ISSUE: E. Jean Carroll’s court case alleging former President Donald Trump assaulted her in 1996.
I’m not a fan of former President Donald Trump — at all (“E. Jean’s lament: I’m hated,” Jan. 19).
Still, I find it astonishing that the plaintiff who publicly accused Trump of sexually assaulting her does not get sued for her actions.
Meanwhile, Trump is sued for millions for essentially denying the reputation-shattering accusation.
I realize that he no longer can be tried criminally for sexual assault, but denying him through great financial sanction the basic right to proclaim and maintain innocence, however unlikely it may seem or be, is very wrong to me.

E. Jean Carroll alleges she was raped in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room by Trump.
As a longtime Bergdorf shopper, I know that would have been impossible. The sales ladies have always been skilled and hyper-attentive. The idea of a large man assaulting a customer in a dressing room was and is impossible.
I suggest that Bergdorf sues Carroll for dragging its famous name, brand and reputation through this case of “Trump derangement syndrome.”
An elegant retailer with a storied history should not have its name tarnished.

Justice ends where Judge Lewis Kaplan’s corrupt courtroom begins. Trump should request
that his accuser take a lie-detector test. I’d like to be a fly on the wall to see her responses.
I hear a lot about AI these days. Since AI is apparently so accurate, when will it be permissible in the courtroom to flesh out the likes of Trump’s accuser?

I would like to see Trump sue Carroll for defamation of character.
She thought it would be a really good idea to add this accusation to her résumé. Now with the #MeToo movement — Trump has been thrown to the wolves.
Thanks to #MeToo, many men accused of unwanted attention toward women have been doxxed and canceled.
I wish Trump some measure of justice for having someone so dishonest testify against him. But cases like this are in vogue.
