NCAA: Seton Hall reaches NIT semis

Seton Hall continued its strong run in the NIT Wednesday with Al-Amir Dawes scoring 21 points in the Pirates’ 91-68 quarterfin­al victory over UNLV at Walsh Gymnasium in South Orange.

Kadary Richmond added 16 points and 10 assists as the Pirates led by as much 27 points in the second half. Seton Hall, who will face Georgia next, clinched a berth to the semifinals next week at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapol­is and are two wins away from winning their first NIT title since 1953.

NBA: Green ejected in Warriors win

Andrew Wiggins scored 23 points, Stephen Curry made the final two baskets of the game on an off shooting night and the Warriors overcame Draymond Green’s early ejection to beat the Magic 101-93 in Orlando. Green, was ejected 3:36 in for disputing a foul call on Wiggins. It was Green’s fourth ejection of the season.

In Philadelph­ia, Kawhi Leonard completed two three-point plays late in the game then made a block at the rim on the final possession to lead the Clippers to a 108-107 win over the 76ers. James Harden, in his return to Wells Fargo Center, had 16 points and 14 assists for the Clippers, who had lost six of nine.

In Oklahoma City, Jalen Green scored a game-high 37 points with nine rebounds and seven assists to help the Rockets outlast the Thunder 132-126 in overtime.

In Denver, Kevin Durant scored a game-high 30 points and added 13 rebounds to power the Suns to a 104-97 win over the Nuggets. Nikola Jokic had 22 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds for Denver.

MLB: Dodgers extend Smith

The Dodgers signed catcher Will Smith to a 10-year extension worth $140 million on Wednesday. The deal will include deferred compensati­on for the 2023 All-Star, according to MLB.com.

Former Yankee and Athletics outfielder Miguel Andújar had surgery Wednesday to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee, an operation that usually requires a month of rehabilita­tion.

Blue Jays closer Jordan Romano (right elbow injury) and reliever Erik Swanson (right forearm inflammati­on) will start the season on the injured list.

Reds second baseman Matt McLain had surgery on his left shoulder and will be sidelined for an extended period.

NHL: Surging Lightning beats Bruins

Andrei Vasilevski­y made 23 saves, and the red-hot Lightning beat the Atlantic Division-leading Bruins 3-1 in Tampa, Fla. The Lightning improved to 7-0-1 over their last eight games.

The NHL’s Capitals and NBA’s Wizards are staying in the District of Columbia for the long term after ownership and the city reached an agreement on a $515 million arena project.

NFL: Panthers sign Clowney

The Panthers have bolstered their pass rush, agreeing to terms with veteran free agent Jadeveon Clowney. Clowney agreed to a two-year, $20 million contract worth up to $24 million with incentives, according to a person familiar with the situation.
