Anunoby sits; sources say he’s out for Game 4

INDIANAPOLIS — OG Anunoby indeed missed Friday night’s 111-106 Game 3 loss to the Pacers with his strained hamstring — and he’s likely out the next game, as well — but traveled with the Knicks to Indy, according to Tom Thibodeau.

The coach was vague about Anunoby’s status moving forward, saying he was unaware of the severity of the strain or the recovery timeline. However, sources confirmed Anunoby won’t be ready for Sunday’s Game 4.

Hamstring recoveries are tricky and tough to predict.

“Our medical team is here, so it makes sense [for Anunoby to be in Indianapolis),” Thibodeau said. “So just keep working at it and we’ll see where he is every day.”

Anunoby came up limping and holding his hamstring in the third quarter of Game 2 on Wednesday. He was quickly ruled out of the third quarter.

The Knicks are 26-5 with him in the lineup and 0-1 without him in the Pacers series.

“If you get nicked up in a game, your rehab is basically your game,” Thibodeau said. “So just lock into that. Get treatment three times a day, and just keep working at that. That’s where he is right now.”

And before Friday, he had traveled a combined 27.2 miles on the court in the playoffs, a little more than the NYC marathon.

Since they started tracking distance traveled, he’s the first player to run the equivalent of a marathon in an eight-game span.

“There it is. It means I’m in pretty good shape,” Hart said. “It definitely means once this season’s over, for about 3 weeks, Imma do nothing but just eat, drink wine and relax. That’s what that means.”

“We took an L. That’s how I viewed it,” he said. “It doesn’t mean anything. Going into the next game, I’ve got to be better in other categories. And that’s what I’m going to watch.”
