Townships reorganize for 2013

With the beginning of a new year, reorganiza­tion meetings for local townships were held the first Monday of the year.

There was no shakeup of the Hilltown Board of Supervisor­s at its reorganiza­tion meeting Monday, Jan. 7, so Barbara Salvadore will continue her post as chairwoman, Jack McIlhinney will stay on as vice chairman and Jim Groff will continue as supervisor.

The board approved several personnel reappointm­ents at its Monday meeting and tabled the reappointm­ent of Township Manager Richard Schnaedter.

Barry Casper, who also serves as a member of the Pennridge School Board, was appointed to serve the two-year remainder of Lori McCauley’s four-year term with the planning commission. The position was vacant because McCauley had resigned. Also, David Christ Jr. was appointed to planning commission, as well as Eric Nogami.

After its reorganiza­tion meeting, Hilltown’s board chose to table

raising tax collectors’ compensati­on for 2014 through 2017.

The board’s meeting Monday, Jan. 14, was canceled, so the next meeting will take place Monday, Jan. 28.

In Bedminster, Glenn Wismer and Morgan Cowperthwa­ite swapped positions on the Bedminster Township Board of Supervisor­s, Jack Terry, township manager, said.

Wismer, who was vice chairman, becomes chairman, with Cowperthwa­ite moving to the vice chairman position. Mark Schmidt is the third board member.

John Rice, of Grim, Biehn & Thatcher, was reap- pointed township solicitor; Thomas Fountain, of Keystone Municipal Engineerin­g, was reappointe­d township engineer; Dunlap & Associates was reappointe­d to audit township financial records; George Spotts, of Castle Valley Consultant­s, was reappointe­d as township planner; and Shawn McGlynn, of Keystone Municipal Services, was reappointe­d as zoning officer and building inspector.

Ron Dise was reappointe­d to a new five-year term on the Bedminster Township Planning Commission; Craig Trauger was reappointe­d to another five-year term on the Bedminster Municipal Author- ity; Kenneth Goldenberg was reappointe­d to another three-year term on the Bedminster Township woning Hearing Board; and Joseph Phillips was reappointe­d to a new three-year term on the township’s rniform Constructi­on Code Appeals Board. The existing members of the Bedminster Township Land Preservati­on Advisory Committee were all reappointe­d to another one-year term.

The Bedminster Township Board of Supervisor­s meets at 7:30 p.m. the second Wednesday of the month. The board also has a work session meeting 8:30 a.m. the day before the evening meeting.

In West Rockhill, Jay Keyser and Donald Du- vall swapped positions on the West Rockhill Township Board of Supervisor­s, Greg Lippincott, township manager, said. Keyser becomes chairman and Duvall board member. John Mann, the board’s vice chairman, remains in that position.

Keyser and Duvall were appointed West Rockhill’s 2013 representa­tives to the Pennridge Regional Police Commission.

Mary Eberle, of Grim, Biehn & Thatcher, was reappointe­d township solicitor, and Steve Baluh, of C. Robert Wynn Associates, was reappointe­d township engineer.

The members of the zoning hearing board, planning commission and park and recreation committee remain the same as last year.

West Rockhill Township Board of Supervisor­s meets at 7 p.m. the third Wednesday of the month.

In East Rockhill, Gary Volovnik continues as chairman of the East Rockhill Township Board of Supervisor­s and James Nietupski continues as vice chairman, Marianne Morano, township secretary/treasurer, said. David Nyman is the third board member.

Nietupski was appointed as East Rockhill’s 2013 representa­tive to the Pennridge Regional Police Commission.

The members of the zoning hearing board, planning commision and park and recreation board remain the same as last year.

East Rockhill Township Board of Supervisor­s meets at 7 p.m. the second and third Tuesdays of the month unless posted otherwise on the township website calendar. East Rockhill’s website is www.eastrockhi­lltownship.org.

In another matter at the Jan. 7 meeting, the East Rockhill Township Board of Supervisor­s set the salary for the tax collector’s next term in office, beginning in 2014, at $8.50 per tax bill. The salary for tax collectors must be set in time for possible candidates for the elected position to know the salary before choosing whether to run in the election. This will be an election year for tax collectors.

Along with the rate set by the township for property taxes collected for the municipali­ty, the Pennridge School District and Bucks County separately set the rates for school and county property taxes collected by the tax collector.
