Marshall County Humane Society upcoming events

With the first half of 2022 completed, there is still a lot of events that the Marshall County Humane Society will be holding.

On Saturday, Aug. 6 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., the Beach Paw-ty will be at the Culver beach. Bring your four legged friend and enjoy the beach at Lake Maxinkucke­e. Tony Straw Photograph­y will be there again this year and will be capturing your dog in photos. This event replaces the Dash ’n Splash event from years past. Support the humane society’s homeless pets with a donation of $20 includes swimming, games, and contests including a swimsuit contest. All dogs must be dog friendly and kept on a leash.

In October, Witches Night Out will be an event benefittin­g the Marshall County Humane Society. It’ll be from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and is a ladies only event. Tickets are only $25, advanced tickets only and there won’t be tickets available at the door. You must be at least 21 to participat­e. There will be a witches costume contest, palm reader, tarot cards, silent auction, and local vendors. The event will be located at Bitterswee­t Haven, 13020 State Road 331 in Bourbon. Bitterswee­t

Haven was built in 1882. It is one of Marshall County’s oldest homes still standing.

In November, there will be a Holiday Bazaar located at the Conservati­on Clubhouse, 720 Magnetic

Parkway in Plymouth from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Stop in for cute crafts and delicious homemade goodies. Pet photos by Woof Studios (call the shelter for time slots at 574-936-8300). You can purchase an ornament for the Giving Tree. All proceeds help the humane society’s homeless animals.

The humane society is always looking for volunteers. Volunteers under the age of 18 must have a waiver form signed by their parents.

Orphan puppies and kittens brought to the humane society need fosters until they are eight weeks old. Some need bottle fed.while others need a home to mature and socialize. Event workers are needed for major and minor fundraiser­s throughout the year. Tasks include setup, food preparatio­n, ticket sales, clean up, and craft making. Maintenanc­e help is needed to keep the building interior and exterior attractive and comfortabl­e for visitors and workers. Tasks include landscapin­g, painting, repairing, and replacing.
