Rodeo gives 4 boxes of popcorn for ‘The BFG’ (Disney 2016)

‘If grown-ups did in real-life what the grownups do in the movie, they would get sued’

- By Rodeo Marie Hanson Columnist Rode’o Marie Hanson, 9, Fleetwood, has been rubbing elbows with celebrities on the red carpet since she was age 4. She even interviewed Kelly McGillis, the star of the movie “Top Gun.”

An orphaned 10 year old girl named Sophie discovers that giants are very real when “The BFG,” or big, friendly giant, takes her to giant land.

Sophie experiences the wonders of an alternate world in which The BFG shares with her his magical ability to catch dreams and send them to children. The two form a very special friendship, but complications ensue when the other non-friendly giants who inhabit giant land discover Sophie’s presence among them, threatening both her and The BFG.

Together, Sophie and The BFG hatch a plan to banish the non-friendly giants from giant land forever, and in the process learn a lot about themselves, and the power of friendship, love and believing in yourself.

Based on the best-selling novel by Roald Dahl, this family-friendly adventure is brought to life with special effects.

Produced and directed by Steven Spielberg, “The BFG” runs 117 minutes, is rated PG and stars Mark Rylance, Ruby Barnhill and Bill Hader. Rodeo’s Review: I liked this movie because of the special effects. I wish I could taste the drink with the upside down bubbles that The BFG makes, but I wouldn’t eat the vegetables that he has for dinner. All the food in this movie made me hungry. I didn’t expect to see The Queen Of England, in a kids movie. If grownups did in real-life what the grown-ups do in the movie, they would get sued... I think. Kids will like this movie, and I would like to go dream-catching.

I give this movie 4 out of 4 boxes of popcorn!

Rodeo would like to say thanks to Carmike Cinemas, and the amazing staff at The Reading Fairgrounds Square Mall Digiplex Cinema.
