Final Kauffman’s Car Show
20th annual Kauffman’s Antique and Custom CruiseIn hosted one last time on Labor Day
Mother Nature smiled on the two decades of efforts put forth by Trinity UCC in Rehrersburg and blessed them with a beautiful day for their 20th annual, and final, Kauffman’s Antique and Custom Cruise-In on Labor Day.
The long running show in Bethel, coordinated by Tim and Kim Glynn, is one of the biggest car shows in our area and has truly set the standard for events of this kind.
“All of the proceeds from the show go to Trinity UCC in Rehrersburg and they disperse it to various chari- ties,” said co-organizer Kim Glyn.
When asked about the demise of the popular event, she stated that it became more difficult over the years to get volunteers to help with the show.
This year’s show attracted a total of 512 entries as antique, classic and custom cars in addition to trucks and motorcycles flowed into the grounds all morning. More than 50 awards were presented at day’s end, many with unique and creative titles such as “Phat Rat” and “Easy Rider.”
Among the winners was Carson Krause of Lenhartsville winning the Pastors Place award plaque from Maryann Rhode for his 1931 Model A Ford Coupe.
Guy F. Manwiller of Fleetwood displays his 1963 Corvair.
Kenny Gruber of Fleetwood brought his 1934 Chevy Coupe street rod.
Mertztown resident Terry Hartman drove in a 1931 Studebaker.
A slick black 1932 Ford Roadster was driven in by Greg Miller of Blandon.
Jeffrey Germann of Lenhartsville displayed hi 1949 Mercury Coupe.
It was announced at the event that Stewart’s Root Beer Mobile Restaurants will be taking over the show next year. The event will be called the 21st Annual Labor Day Cruise-In but the location has yet to be determined.
