As part of a nationwide campaign, the national group Identity Evropa placed recruitment flyers at various locations on Kutztown University’s campus. The flyer depicts pictures of ancient Greek statues overlaid with the slogan “Let’s Become Great Again” or “Serve Your People” and the group’s name, Identity Evropa.

In a statement released to campus on Feb. 8, KU President Dr. Kenneth Hawkinson, along with Dr. Warren Hilton, Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, wrote that the University has been made aware of posters placed in various locations throughout campus. Hawkinson said that Identity Evropa is not affiliated with the university.

“Upon further investigation, we learned this group is a national organization that has posted similar materials at other campuses throughout the country over the past several months,” said Hawkinson. “While we must keep in mind that all individuals have the right to free speech on our campus, our university rejects all forms of racism, bigotry and discrimination.”

Hawkinson said Kutztown University highly values and respects all campus constituents and celebrates diversity.

“We will continue to advocate for an environment wherein all those associated with our university can feel valued and safe,” he said.

Hawkinson encourages anyone who feels the need to access specific resources as an individual or with a group, or feel harassed or discriminated against, to reach out to trusted offices on campus including the following:
