Miller Gallery hosts Dana Harper’s installation, ‘Bloom Bloom’
The Marlin and Regina Miller Gallery at Kutztown University has selected Dana Harper’s installation, “Bloom Bloom,” to be showcased now through March 9.
Harper’s piece, Bloom Bloom, is a cave shaped installation made out of pink and orange colored construction flagging tape. The cave structure has a number of different beams of light behind it that provide the audience with the warm, fantasy-like atmosphere that Harper hopes to share. The tape material is what sparked Harper’s inspiration for this piece. She enjoys taking such materials and making them something larger as well as having them function in a way people would not immediately expect them to.
Harper said she enjoys seeing her work take shape at such a quick pace and appreciates the assistance of KU student volunteers.
“It’s [Bloom Bloom] such a large piece and doing it myself would take forever, having the help from the

students is really nice.”
Harper also expressed how impressed she was by KU for having such a beautiful gallery and extensive art program.
Harper’s installations are mainly focused on surreal landscapes where she would like her audience members of any background to connect with the art and co-exist equally.
Harper has a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, and a master degree in fine arts from The Pennsylvania State University, State College, Pa. Since completing her degrees, she has been a working artist and has instructed art lectures around Ohio and Pennsylvania.
