A adoption and child foster care: session will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 16 at Diakon Adoption & Foster Care, located on the campus of The Lutheran Home at Topton, One S. Home Ave., Topton. People interested in attending the session are asked to call, toll-free, 1-888-5822230 or 610-682-1504 to register. Diakon Adoption & Foster Care staff will explain foster parenting as well as the processes involved in adopting a child. Attendees also will learn about children available for adoption as well as the foster-to-adopt program and a new service providing foster care for medically fragile children.

FriendFest: There are two sessions: 3-6 p.m. and 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. in Beltzner Hall at the Kutztown Fairground­s, 450 Wentz Street, Kutztown. FriendFest is an annual benefit beer or wine festival featuring live music, delicious food, and various vendors, with all proceeds going to help fund the Optimist Club of Kutztown’s children’s programs in Local Communitie­s, as well as a donation to assist Friend, Inc. end poverty in rural Northeaste­rn Berks County. Local breweries and wineries in Pennsylvan­ia and along the east coast will showcase their products to hundreds of attendees. All guests must be at least 21 years of age or older, and each ticket allows entrance into one of the sessions, unlimited wine and beer tasting, and a souvenir glass. Buy your tickets ahead of time or at the door. Designated Driver tickets are available.
