FLEETWOOD JUNIOR TROOP PLANTS MARY’S SHELTER GARDEN
Girl Scouts work toward earning Bronze Award
Fleetwood Girl Scout Junior Troop 1793 has been working on earning their Girl Scout Bronze Award. They chose their project to benefit Mary’s Shelter.
These Girl Scout Juniors have been working very hard this summer. They weeded, a lot! They planted a vegetable garden full of tomatoes, green beans, broccoli, peppers and herbs. These girls have been working hard in groups to research a vegetable they planted so they could present information to the moms at the shelter. The girls worked in groups of 2 or 3 and developed a presentation on how to plant, care for, harvest and prepare the vegetable, including providing recipes. Recently, they gave their presentations at Mary’s Shelter. They also were able to give out the bath bombs they made, did some more weeding and picked some veggies. They also planted some flowers.
The girls continued to help at the shelter and worked sorting donations that the agency takes in. With that, they found some bins of essential oils. They decided to turn them into some fizzy bath bombs to be able to give to the moms and kids at Mary’s.
