Library supporters fill Wine & Stein fundraising event
Event raised funds for Brandywine Community Library, showcased local vendors and brought community together
Brandywine Community Library hosted its annual community fundraiser, with a new name, Wine and Stein, on April 14 at the Henry Auditorium located on The Lutheran Home at Topton campus.
“For the Wine and Stein event, we sold 116 tickets and filled the room with approximately 135 wonderful library supporters,” said Heather Wicke, Library Director at Brandywine Community Library. “Not only is our goal to raise money at this event but we like to showcase local vendors and bring our neighbors together for a night of music, mingling, appetizers, door prizes, raffles, wine and for the first time this year, beer.”
Tastings were offered by Aulenbach Wines, Pinnacle Ridge Winery, and Saucony Creek Brewery. Food sponsors included Foodleigh.com, Shady Creek Cakes and Bakery, Kym’s Bakery Creations, Classy Cakes Cupcakery, Sweet Tempered Chocolates, Cookies by Dean, K’Town Pub, Tony’s Italian Restaurant, Uptown Expresso Bar, Valentino’s, and White Palm.
Entertainment was provided by Hannah Violet. Diana and Johnny Hazel with Orin Strunk warmed up the crowd for Hannah.
“The money raised at Wine and Stein helps us add more items to our collection as well as supports our summer reading program for kids, teens and adults,” said Wicke. “This year our kick off program on June 13 at 2 p.m. is Rockin’ Reptiles with the Forgotten Friend Reptile Sanctuary. They helped us with our adoption of Sheldon, a 25 yearold Greek tortoise.”
