William Macmillan won the title 2018 Mr. Brandywine during the Brandywine Heights High School’s annual Mr. Brandywine pageant held in March.

This pageant consists of a dance opener, interviews, talent, swimsuit, and finally formal wear. The boys were judged on each category individually and the points they obtained determine who is this year’s Mr. Brandywine.

Aside from the title of Mr. Brandywine this competition, also has a People’s Choice Award won by Zayn Deeter.

During the opening scene for this event consisted of the guys dancing to Shakira’s hit, “Hips don’t lie.” This

was a dance put together and choreographed prior to the show.

This year’s participants were Mcguire Gailing, Jordan Grace, William Macmillan, Derick Wartzenluft, and finally Zayn Deeter.

The next piece was the talent piece. During this part of the show Mcguire shared his vocal capabilities which have been proven time and again through his participation in the schools choir and Chamber singers group.

Next up was Jared who played the song, “All Star,” by Smash Mouth. This was played on his guitar as he sang along.

Following this performance Derick played his drums rather impressively.

Jordan, who is a standing member of the school Drama Club, performed a monologue that was all too funny for the simplicity of it showing a talent of a true performer. The premise of the monologue was a man found a dead cat on the road and was praying to God for quite a few minutes and having a type of funeral up until the point the man realized that the cat was actually a raccoon making the man cast it aside.

Following this dramatic performance William played a piano piece that made someone think Beethoven was sitting in the very room playing away at the pale as snow keys.

Finally, for the act that had the whole room ecstatic, Zayn’s performance with his cousin was a little something called beach ball ballea which won him the People’s Choice Award.

During the formal section, some notable things that happened are that Zayn propose to a young lady and also did it before Jared did causing Jared to say, “Well I was going to propose to Emily, but Zayn stole my thunder so I guess my interesting fact is that I don’t have an interesting fact.”

Some other performances to take up some time between transition was done by Alyana Biltcliff, Johannah Fink, and finally Marley Turbett. Hosting during the show was done precisely well by Erin Sabol, a senior at the school.

Finally the winners of the categories of the show are the following. William won the talent section. Mcguire won the swimsuit and the dance sections. The formal section was won by Jordan. The winner of the Mr. Brandywine title was William. Runner ups for this contest were Mcguire and Jordan.
