Hamburg gets win vs. Northern Lebanon

Leland Moore and Charles Sheppard each ran for two touchdowns and Xander Menapace ran for one and threw for another to lead Hamburg to a 48-27 win over Northern Lebanon in a Lancaster-Lebanon Section 4 game Friday at Fredericks­burg.

Moore and Menapace each scored on 20-yard runs to put the Hawks (4-2, 6-2) up 14-0 with 5:14 to go in the first quarter.

The Vikings (1-5, 2-7) cut it to 14-7 on a 13-yard pass from Kael Erdman to James Voight, the first of three times the duo would connect for scores.

A 10-yard run by Moore put Hamburg up 21-7, then Sheppard, a 6-2, 286-pound lineman, scored on a 6-yard run on fourth-and-1 to make it 28-7 with 2:46 left in the first half.

Erdman hit Voight for a 38-yard scoring pass with 39 seconds left in the first half. Hamburg blocked the extra point to take a 28-13 halftime lead.

A 5-yard run by Erdman got Northern Lebanon within 28-19 with 9:32 left in the third quarter, but Sheppard scored on a 3-yard run and Menapace threw a 5-yard TD pass to Cohen Correll to put Hamburg up 31-9 with 1:22 left in the third.

Ronny Parra scored on a 5-yard run for the Hawks in the fourth quarter. SOLANCO 56, FLEETWOOD 12 >> At Quarryvill­e, Solanco remained undefeated with a win over Fleetwood 5612 in a Lancaster-Lebanon Section 3 game.

Junior quarterbac­k Jack Riffle threw for 157 yards and two touchdowns for the Tigers (0-5, 2-7), who lost their sixth straight. Riffle also had 15 rushing yards.

The Golden Mules (5-0, 9-0) outgained Fleetwood 404-211. Solanco had 347 rushing yards on 31 carries and 57 passing yards.

The Tigers had 54 rushing yards on 23 carries.

The Golden Mules jumped to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter.

Elijah Cunningham opened the scoring for the Golden Mules on a 54-yard run with just over 10 minutes left in the first. Quarterbac­k Brody Mellinger scored next on a 1-yard run.

Mellinger scored again from 1 with just under a minute to play in the first quarter.

Jossiah Forren scored the first touchdown of the second quarter on a 16-yard run for the Golden Mules.

The Tigers got on the board shortly after when Riffle found Mason Musitano for an 8-yard touchdown pass to cut it to 28-6.

Solanco then scored 28 unanswered points.

Cunningham scored an 80-yard kick return for a touchdown following the Tigers’ first score. Forren scored his second touchdown on a 21-yard run with 3:55 to go in the first half.

Mellinger ran for his second touchdown from the 3 just before halftime.

Mellinger and Cunningham connected a 52-yard pass for a score on the Golden Mules’ first drive of the second half.

Landon Tomes caught an 11-yard touchdown pass from Riffle with 1:22 left. Tomes had a team high 57 receiving yards.
