Spring service day planned at Blue Marsh Lake

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Blue Marsh Lake is hosting a Spring Service Day at Blue Marsh Lake in partnershi­p with the Penn State Alumni Associatio­n Berks County Chapter.

Friends, families, and community organizati­ons are invited to join other volunteers on April 27 to participat­e in projects to celebrate Earth Day and prepare for the summer season at the park, park officials said in a press release.

Projects for the day will focus on litter pick up, wildlife habitat enhancemen­t through invasive species identifica­tion and removal, and park beautifica­tion landscapin­g.

The Penn State Alumni Berks Chapter will be hosting a cookout for volunteers with donations from various local businesses.

Volunteer supplies such as gloves, trash bags, and small hand tools will be provided. Pre-registrati­on is required for this event and due by April 20th.

The event will take place rain or shine, starting at 9:30 a.m. Participan­ts will sign in at the Lakeview Pavilion at the Dry Brooks Day Use Area, parking lot D, 1420 Palisades Drive, Leesport.
